Argumentation training to refute everyday sexism: Goals, Roles, and Effects – March 7, 2025

maart 7 @ 16:00 - 18:00

Şeydâ Buurman-Kutsal – Argumentation training to refute everyday sexism: Goals, Roles, and Effects

This session on march 7th focuses on “the uncomfortable conversation” about sexism and the role of self-reflection in these discussions. Many of us seek tools and strategies to engage in these conversations effectively. But what is your personal goal when discussing sexism? What do you want to achieve? Do you aim to fight discrimination, ensure that everyone can express their thoughts, or seek consensus? What statements in these discussions make you uncomfortable, and what does that reveal about yourself?
Şeydâ will show that understanding your own goals is a necessary condition for having meaningful and constructive conversations about sexism. In a safe and supportive environment, we will engage in deep discussions in small groups with people who share similar questions or needs.

Language: You can speak in the language of your choice. During registration, you will be asked whether you prefer Dutch or English.

Şeydâ is a senior trainer, supervisor, executive coach, and consultant. She has built extensive expertise in the fields of racism & discrimination, justice, diversity & inclusion, working in this area for over twenty years both nationally and internationally. She also provides workshops and training in the Blue Eyes Brown Eyes approach and is one of the few people personally trained by Jane Elliott. Şeydâ appeared on television in Het Grote Racisme Experiment(watch here).
